We are a small, family run, residential care home located in Barnton, in the heart of Vale Royal, Cheshire.
Our home is a mature detached residence set in half an acre of beautiful landscaped gardens overlooking the Weaver Valley to the rear.
We are registered for thirteen residents and as a small home we have the advantage of being able to give individual attention and to tailor our care according to personal wants and needs.
Our home was first opened in 1987 by Peter and Carol Brocklehurst when they converted an old Catholic Church clergy house and registered it as a residential care home for the elderly.
Peter and Carol's vision was to create a real "home from home"; a place that felt like home to the residents and their families.
Essendene remains family owned and family run to this day. That ethos of "a home from home" is still at the heart of everything we do.
We offer a varied menu of home cooked, locally sourced food; a full activities programme including outings; bedrooms are fully furnished and sympathetically decorated, with vanity units and TV points, a shared lounge with large TV and a decked terrace to enjoy the garden.
We have visiting hairdressing and chiropody services and can arrange for residents to make trips to church, clubs or other social activities of their choice. For a full list of all facilities please view our facilities page.
Visiting is normally welcomed at any and all times, but during the COVID-19 outbreak visiting is currently restricted. Please contact us for details.
We are proud to be rated GOOD by the CQC and to have a FIVE STAR hygiene rating from the food standards agency.
